Curriculum

This level introduces learners to the fundamentals of Korean communication. Students will learn basic greetings, self-introduction, simple questions, and everyday expressions while developing foundational reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in Korean.

Unit 1: 인사 (Greetings)

What you’ll achieve:
 Introduce yourself, greet others, and identify people or objects in basic social situations.

You will learn how to:

  • Greet people appropriately in first meetings
  • Introduce yourself and ask for someone’s name
  • Recognize and write Korean names
  • Address Korean adults respectfully
  • Use the verb 이다 (to be) and 아니다 (to not be)
  • Use basic expressions commonly used in introductions

Unit 2: 어디 가세요? (Where Are You Going?)

What you’ll achieve:
 Ask and respond about destinations, talk about places, and express existence or possession.

You will learn how to:

  • Ask someone where they are going
  • Respond with a destination or location
  • Name common public places such as 학교, 은행, and 시장
  • Express existence or possession using 있어요 / 없어요
  • Use polite sentence endings in conversations
  • Form negative sentences politely

Unit 3: 사무실에서 (At the Office)

What you’ll achieve:
 Communicate politely in workplace or formal situations and show respect in conversation.

You will learn how to:

  • Show respect using honorific expressions such as –시
  • Use honorific forms for existence and possession
  • Give reasons politely using expressions like 왜냐하면
  • Use time expressions to indicate when actions occur
  • Express “also / too” using 도
  • Talk about starting points of time or place

Unit 4: 어디 있어요? (Where Is It?)

What you’ll achieve:
 Ask for and give directions, describe locations, and talk about travel time.

You will learn how to:

  • Ask where something or someone is locatedConfirm information politely
  • Describe how long it takes to reach a place
  • Give instructions for riding or getting off transportation
  • Connect sentences using linking expressions
  • Express the purpose of going somewhere

  • Final Exam: At the end of the course, you will take a written and verbal exam. A score of 70% is required to progress to the next level.

Course Terms & Conditions

  • Your Group Korean course fee includes one digital copy of the learning materials. If you’d prefer a hard copy, you can purchase one from our recommended supplier at an extra cost.
  • Public group classes are designed for 30 academic hours per CEFR level. If the group grows to 5-7 students, we’ll extend the program by 10 academic hours. If only two students enroll before the course starts, the group will shift to a semi-private format with 20 academic hours.
  • Want to switch to a different group or schedule? No problem! Just let us know at least 7 days before the course starts.
  • All our teachers are native speakers of the target language. If your teacher falls ill or has an emergency, we’ll arrange a substitute who’s fully briefed on your progress.
  • Once you’ve started with your group, switching to another group or schedule isn’t possible.
  • Please note that course fees are non-refundable once the group classes have begun.
  • We can record group lessons for later viewing, but only if everyone in the class agrees before the course starts.
  • At the end of every program, you’ll take a final exam (both written and verbal). To move up to the next CEFR level, you’ll need to score at least 70%.
  • After completing your final exam, you’ll receive a progress report, recommendations, and a certification for your hard work!
